96,480 over 40 births conceived without DE in 2003

Most births to women over 40 are without using DE [donor egg], contrary to what the media is telling us. Of all live births in the United States during 2001-2003 (average), 10.8% were to women under the age of 20, 51.7% were to women ages 20-29, 35.0% were to women ages 30-39, and 2.5% were to women ages 40 and older.

So if in 2003 there were 4,089,950 live births, then 2.5% makes 102,249 babies born to women over 40. With just 5,769 DE births in 2003, that leaves 96,480 births who were conceived without DE.
