Here I sit, 21 weeks at 45

Hi, I'm 45, two children 18 and 20 and with new partner of 2 years (also early 50's and no kids)! We honestly thought my baby making days were probably over (my age and ectopic pregnancy many years ago).

So, unexpectedly, here I sit 21 weeks, very bumpful and healthy. I was initially devastated, very scared of the increased risk of problems and felt irresponsible getting pregnant at my age.

Midwives, friends and family have been so supportive - treating me normally.... because that's what I am! Only extra thing we have done is have the nuchal fold scan at 13 weeks - all was fine.

The stats tell us there are more risks at 45+, but they also say you still have much more chance of all being OK than not.
