She is almost 55, her boys are 12 and 8

I ran into an old high school friend of mine at a dinner last week, I haven't seen her since we were in our 20's. She is now almost 55, and I almost choked on my food when she mentioned casually that her boys are ages 12 and 8.

She said she got married at age 35, and thought she might not ever have children, then the boys came along in her 40's.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
