About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I am 48 and I think I am pregnant. Can someone tell me what to do and what to expect? I am married and I thought I was close to menopause and not expecting this. My period was not regular for the last 6 months. I think I am 1 month pregnant. I went to the doctor and did the pregnancy test and the result was negative. I feel my breasts are so tender. What else do you feel other than that?

  2. Mary - did you figure out if you were pregnant or not? Sometimes the symptoms of pregnancy are similar to the signs of menopause. So unfair, and confusing!

Fatigue, nausea, sore breasts, frequent urination are the typical signs of pregnancy.
