At 45, I conceived the "old fashioned way"

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, October 02, 2007 | 0 comments

At 45 years old it took 10 days from the time I stopped taking the Birth Control pill (started when 18 years old) before conceiving the "old fashioned way." This was the first time trying for me. I'm now 36 weeks and expecting healthy baby girl to deliver on or about 4/3/06.

Don't believe everything you read. I've met more people who are healthy, active 40-somethings who have gotten pregnant in less time than the 20-somethings.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
