I found out I’m pregnant at 47

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, December 17, 2007 | 2 comments

I had 2 miscarriages, only the last one was on New Year's Eve. Ya, what a way to break open a new year? Anyway I was 45 on that one. Well, I was so depressed and tried to get it out of my head on having another baby. Well years go by, and I found out that I’m pregnant at 47?

...Scared and hoping I don’t lose this one.. No insurance yet, I have a year to get some, and I’m feeling some light ackyness in the lower abdomen, close to the bikini line.. Is this normal? I’m told I’m about a little over 5 weeks.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Congradulation....Don't be depresssed its God destiny for you and a wonderful one it is. I recent married and have though about the possibility. My children are adults 31 and 23...I would love to be able to make that announcement. All doctors tell me it a slim chance of it occuring. I try not to think about it but I do...May you have a wonderful pregnancy and a health delivery

  2. Charmaine - I think every baby is a blessing!

I hope you will be able to make a baby announcement soon - you never know what the future might bring!
