The last born when she was 45

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, December 19, 2007 | 0 comments

Here is a story... My grandmother had 8 children, the last born when she was 45 (1936). The older were ages 24 to 11 years old, and my grandfather had been killed in a car accident about a month after conception.

I didn't hear about gramma have any major problems with the pregnancy. The baby (my aunt) was healthy, she is now a retired teacher. However, life wasn't easy growing up for my aunt with 4 pseudo-fathers and 3 pseudo-mothers.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
