My 44y sister is pregnant

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Friday, January 04, 2008 | 0 comments

My 44 year old sister is pregnant ... Doesn't want to be ... She has 3 boys and is done having children. She wouldn't even have known she is pregnant, if I hadn't made her buy a HPT [home pregnancy test] when I was in MD [Maryland] last weekend (she was 5 days late).

She is in shock - she will have the baby, if it sticks - but it's just a huge "head's up" for me about TTC [trying to conceive]. It really doesn't make sense at all that, someone who doesn't want a baby gets pregnant, and then there's me who would jump for joy if I was in her shoes.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
