She was pregnant AGAIN at 45

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, June 14, 2008 | 0 comments

This is not my story, but a close friend of mine. I have told it before, but worth repeating to give you hope.

She had IUIs [intra-uterine insemination] etc. at 41, due to being so called 'menopausal' and they gave her little hope. However, at 42, she got pregnant naturally. So she was very happy with her little girl, and that was that.

Then one day when she was 45, she found out that she was pregnant AGAIN - even though her periods were not very regular and she definitely had menopausal symptoms. She then had another little girl. She has two very healthy beautiful little girls.

You are right - there are hundreds of miracle babies - so I don't even think we need to call them miracles - rather that it is NORMAL to still be able to get pregnant in our 40's.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
