I am 47 and 8 weeks pregnant

Hi, I am 47 and 8 weeks pregnant. I conceived naturally, and each time I did conceive it was when I had abundant cervical mucus. I had my daughter at 40, and she is great.

We tried off and on for about 4 years and 3 miscarriages later (first two at 6 weeks and last one at 10 weeks) to get pregnant, but it just didn't take.

A couple of years ago I asked the OB [obstetrician] if there was a possibility that I could still get pregnant. Based on a FSH blood test, he said that I was very close to menopause, and that it would be a miracle for me to get pregnant.

Well, I have been given a miracle.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
