Her baby was born when she was 43

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Friday, September 04, 2009 | 2 comments

My sister-in-law conceived at nearly 43 and her baby was born when she was 43 and 9 months -- I lost count but it was probably their 6th or 7th IVF [in vitro fertiloization] /ICSI [intracytoplasmic sperm injection] attempt (one prior pregnancy ended in miscarriage).

I conceived at 40+ and my son was born just after my 41st birthday (3rd IVF/ICSI attempt, including one canceled cycle).

I have a friend who conceived naturally at 43+ and her healthy baby was born when she was 44 and a half.

All stories are with "own eggs". Hope they give you some hope!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Thank you very much for giving us hope! I am 42,5 and after 4 ICSI, 8 low complex attempts, and 1 abort we are going to try again with own eggs.

IVF babies born from embryos that are frozen and thawed are less likely to be underweight or premature than those conceived during fresh treatment cycles, research has shown.
