And by the way, two women at my midwife's office had IVF [in vitro fertilization] babies.

One woman was 45 years old and another woman was 46 years old.

So there are enough clinics who work with women in this age group.

There are many women giving birth at 45 years old, and even later.

But there's no denying the fact that their biological clocks are ticking away.

The odds of conceiving drop by 15 to 20 percent for a woman in her early 30s and plummet to less than 50 percent when she's in her 40s.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
