I am 8 weeks pregnant at 47

Just went for my first OB visit yesterday, and I am 8 weeks pregnant! I had just resigned myself to it not happening due to my age (will be 47 this year). We are being cautiously optimistic, but not telling the other kids till we are further along.

I go for the first trimester screening with the nuchal cord translucency and blood work on October 13th. This is totally an unassisted pregnancy - I had given up on the ovulation tests and timing everything. I will keep you posted.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
