What a shock! I'm 44 years old.

And I just found out I am pregnant for the very first time.

I have very mixed emotions - happy, scared, worried, excited!

I just want to have a healthy baby.

Anyone else having gone through pregnancy in their 40's?

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Congratulations! I too am 44 and TTC. It's stories like yours that give me hope. I get pretty depressed at times because it is taking so long for me to get pregnant, but then I see a story like yours. Good Luck to you!

    Dear "44"
Don't be discouraged. I am 3 months from birthday number 46 and after 15 miscarriages and giving up hope of my husband and I ever having a child together ( I have 2 daughters from a previous marriage that are 19 and 17) we were surprised in August with the news from my PCP that "we're pregnant"!! No donor, no intervention, just a really great, really loving and intimate summer with my husband. I am in my 21st week today and even thought we had some 1st trimester scares, I had a check up yesterday and all is going really well. So don't give up hope, and have fun with your husband. Forget about the "clock" and just love each other!

I will be 45 on the 21st and just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. Had my IUD taken out in July and we really did not try to get pregnant, but here we are. Good luck to all.

I wish I could talk to you all....I'm 44 and just found out that I'm 6 weeks pregnant. You would be women who understand.

I also just turned 44 and found out I am pregnant. I am scared from all the articles I have read regarding pregnancy over 40 years old. I am glad I found this website, it makes me feel a little better.

Hey Laurie and all you older mums to be, why is it that this is as scary as it is exciting. It is so nice to find others in the same boat and hear your positivity after reading so much doom and gloom about mature age pregnancy. These stories making me feel easier about my age. Good luck to you all

    Dear Moms-to-be!

All the best to you with your pregnancies and your babies.

I am still waiting for my great little miracle to come.

  12. Darla says:

I am 44 and 28 weeks pregnant. I got pregnant about 3 weeks after my 44th birthday. This is my 4th pregnancy after 35 and I have children 9,6,3 years old.

I am here to say: Keep the Faith. You CAN conceive naturally after 40. The statistics are inaccurate and discouraging.

I am 44 and just found out I am pregnant with my 6th (husband's first). It's early yet but we are happy and excited.

I am 43 and TTC and trying to stay strong and positive. We are using IUI with our own egg/sperm and tired of folks telling us we can't do it without donor eggs! I know it isn't "easy" but it is possible and I am hopeful.

Thank you all so much for sharing your stories...it gives such hope to women like myself.
