I am 46 & just found out I'm pregnant

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Sunday, May 20, 2007 | 4 comments

I am 46 years old and just found out I'm pregnant. One minute I'm happy, and the next I'm scared. Is there anyone about my age out there who is in the same situation?

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Believe me, we're out here! I'm 47 and am having my first. I'm about 4 weeks along right now and am excited and worried at the same time. I'm just trying to take care of myself and relax!

last year i became pregnant with a coil and was in total shock i have 3 children age 24, 23 and 13. They kept dsaying it would misscarry and everyting wason off on off. I was in a state! My back began to play up and at one stage i could hardly walk. I too had mixed feelings. Secretly i was pleased but also terrified. In the end i had a termination. 3 days later i regretted this and have suffered ever since. My advise is to keep it because the pain i am suffering is unbearable.

  3. Anonoymous #1 - Congrats!

They say it's harder to get pregnant with your first after 40, and here you are at 47. Hope you have a great pregnancy!

  4. Anonymous #2 - {{hugs}} It must have been a difficult decision to make, and I am sorry that you are regretting it.
