I am 45 & now in my 6th week

Then miraculously I missed my next period (without using Clomid) and am now in my 6th week, scheduled to have my 1st ultrasound next Tuesday. For those of you who've ridden this roller coaster, I am so excited, but also afraid to allow myself to become attached to the thought of having another baby.

I am aware that at my age (now 45), the chances of suffering another miscarriage are great, notwithstanding the absence of such symptoms. However, I try to convince myself that since I've already had two, I should beat the odds now.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
