I am 47 & nursing my youngest

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, November 18, 2006 | 0 comments

I am 47 and gave birth a little more that 2 years ago. I am still nursing (just at bedtime) and feel absolutely no signs of peri-menopause.

I have a friend who got pregnant totally naturally at 45 (her daughter was born at 46) and yes, just like the story goes, she was all ready to adopt...

I just took a test to confirm what I've actually known for about a week. I always know within a day or two of conception... That unmistakable fatigue is usually my first sign. There is nothing on EARTH that compares to that! (Due date is March 1st, two weeks before my 45th birthday.)

I've had four since I turned 40. The oldest is now a 6 year old. The twins will be 4 in May. And the baby just turned a year at the end of December. - Diane (46)

Wow!!! I just found out today that I'm pregnant too. I email Tamara a few weeks ago because I was clinging to hope. I have experienced 2 miscarriages. One in 2003 at 11 weeks (43 yrs old) and at 9 weeks (46 years old). I will turn 47 in August 2006. I took a HPT today and it was positive. Anyway, all I did was praise God for our special gift.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
