I have birthed at home at 36, 38, 40, 42 & 44

I had my third homebirth in 1981 when I was 35 years old. Since then I have had 5 more births at home at the ages of 36, 38, 40, 42 and 44.

My baby is now 5 months old. My labours and births have been straightforward without a complication to speak of. I have had no excessive postpartum bleeding. My midwife did not view me as a high risk for a home birth. The babies all were very healthy and strong.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
