Also, there was a couple in our parish with a large age gap. She was in her early 40's at the time and he was 70ish. He had been a widow, and had grown children from his previous marriage. Shortly after they started TTC, she became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy daughter.
About two years later, I ran into this woman in the grocery store and she was expecting again. I had to stop and congratulate her, and that's when she told me "their" story. She went on to tell me that her husband had a vasectomy years ago, and after they had married, decided to get it reversed.
They really didn't think it would work, due to his age. Well, two children later, it looks like it worked!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
