51y grandmother gave birth to twins

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, January 04, 2007 | 0 comments

There was a 51 year old grandmother who recently gave birth at a hospital in the area to twin girls. She did take fertility drugs -- for her husband, who is in his mid 30's, these are his first children.

The babies were born by Cesearean, but she carried to 38 weeks, and they were each over 5 lbs. Mom and the babies are doing great!

The story was very positive too -- implying we will be seeing more and more midlife mommies in the near future.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
