78% chance of conceiving between 35 & 44

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, January 16, 2007 | 0 comments

MYTH: Your fertility declines dramatically after age 35.

Although it's true that your fertility declines as you age, you still have an excellent chance of having a baby ,even if you're past the reproductive world's magic age of 35. According to the National Centre for Health Statistics, you have a 96% chance of conceiving within one year if you're under 25, an 86% if you're between 25 and 34, and a 78% chance if you're between the ages of 35 and 44.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
