Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, February 20, 2007 | 1 comments

Mom of 3 at 44 years old - I'm 8 weeks and my husband says nooooo way, I'm scared and have no one to talk to. My older kids (16,14 and 8 years old) will freak out. My doctor says I'm very healthy and I wish I knew what to do...

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I just read your post and hope that you can find someone to talk to. Your husband is probably very scared. Your kids may surprise you with their reaction, unless they look for a guide - which might be the older child or your husband - it's easier to side with the majority. Can you go talk to a non-biased counselor? A priest or rabbi? These people are trained to help YOU sort out your feelings. Can you take some time for yourself to figure out your feelings? Please try and find someone to talk to whois not affected by this (ie not your husband, kids)so you can sort your own feelings out. It's a big decision - you'll choose wisely from your heart.
