Just saw an old friend. She is due with a baby boy any day now. She was 48 in March. It was so GOOD to see her with that big belly...and gave me such HOPE. Her youngest is now 8, and they had been going through some tough times with their oldest child, that really made them doubt their parenting, etc.

When she stopped having her period, she said that she assumed that that was it, age, etc and that it was kind of adding insult to injury... until her husband suggested a HPT [home pregnancy test] and VOILA, as she put it, a brand new start...

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
