I had my #7 child at 45

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Sunday, March 04, 2007 | 0 comments

I had my #7 child, Aidan, at the age of 45. He is 9 months old now, and I am 46. He was conceived naturally after a lot of half-fannied trying. I'd had a miscarriage 4 years prior.

We are now TTC again, but suddenly my cycles are off so I suspect peri-menopause is rearing her ugly head. I had no invasive testing with Aidan... Just the Level 2 US which showed that all was well. If I do become pregnant again, I will do the same.

During my pregnancy with Aidan I just had such an overall GOOD feeling that things were fine, that I didn't fret too much.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
