I'm fortunate to have gotten pregnant at 46

I was lucky enough to get pregnant on my first try with IVF [In Vitro Fertilization] (actually our one and only chance as we only had three embryos and had run out of money!!!) My husband and I were over the moon, as this is my husband's first (and probably last) baby.
I have a 17 year old son from first marriage. I should think myself fortunate to have gotten pregnant at all at 46 - and I am really. There's not one day goes by that we don't thank God for that. I guess it's all the negative things that some people have said to me that I've taken to heart.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

What fertility doctor did you use? None in my area seem to have much success with 43+ year olds. I live in New England.
