Are there more older mothers?

Birth statistics over the past twenty years show a huge swing in favour of delaying parenthood till our thirties and beyond.

In 1998, the last year for which figures are available, 44% of births were to women over 30. The number of births to women between 40 and 44 has also increased by 50% over the decade.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Most quotes can be found by copying part of the quote into Google, placing quotation marks around the words and doing a search.

Sometimes I correct spelling etc, in a quote, so if you can't find it with one set of words, try some others i nthe quote.
