Pregnant at 46

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, November 27, 2007 | 2 comments

Pregnant at 46 - I found out that I was pregnant 4 days ago and am still in shock. I went off the pill to get a check for menopause... I guess I failed the menopause test. I am scared to death.

I have 3 children 17, 14, and 11.....I am trying to get over the shock. I wondered how common it is to become pregnant at 46, and what to expect from a pregnancy at this time in my life

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

Catherine, i have 19 year old boy-girl twins and a 15 year old daughter...and at 43, i have found myself pregnant by accident to a much younger man. i'm terrified too! but i'm going thru the rounds of testing to make sure i have a healthy and viable the moment i'm up to my first ultrasound that shows me i have one five-week fetus, implanted near the fundus, and hopefully when my doctor comes back from holidays this week i'll get the results of my initial blood tests. i feel well and happy, and i'm wishing you all the best too.
