Found out about our little surprise at 44

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Friday, December 07, 2007 | 0 comments

Well, I have all of you beat. I'm 44!!! and I found out about our little surprise in January. We are 16 weeks along.

My mother was 39 when she got pregnant with me, and I never thought about her age. It was never an issue for me. But everyone is different.

I have to say though we will definitely be finished after this one. We adopted 3 little boys from the State several years ago, and I was perfectly happy with them. I think I will feel more comfortable with this one after the results of our amnio come back. But we are excited.

We may be older... and I may leave this world sooner than some mothers, nothing is for sure in life except for one thing; she'll know she was loved. Some moms die early due to unfortunate circumstances, some to due to age, and some kids are embarrassed by their parents for different reasons no matter what age they are.

My opinion is to just cherish each day that you are blessed with. There are some couples that never got the blessing of a child. We're HAPPY!!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
