45 and defying stats!

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, January 01, 2008 | 0 comments

45 and defying STATS!!!! - Married (1st time) age 43. Neither of us have kids. TTC [trying to conceive] for 2 years. 2 x IVF's [in vitro fertilization] at the Lister in 2005 - both BFN's [big fat negative - negative pregnancy test].

Looking into DE [donor egg] or our own miracle. My Day 3 hormone levels are absolutely fine FSH [follicle stimulating hormone] 8.4, LH [luteinizing hormone] 8.3 & Estradiol [estrogen] 127.

Jan '06 had first BFP [big fat positive, positive pregnancy test] but was chemical pregnancy as disappeared after 2 days. Mar '06 second BFP at 11dpo [days past ovulation] faint but ++. By 15 DPO big fat positive, big fat positive and yesterday on Clearblue Digital PREGNANT within 30 seconds.

So, today I am defying the statistics. I have an awful long way to go, so please send lots of sticky vibes. I will have a blood test this week to see how levels are, and go from there. No, we didn't have any medical intervention for this BFP or the one in January.

This was a totally natural conception except for ingesting lots of vile Chinese herbs, being an acupuncture pin cushion and using Preseed lube which is Sperm friendly....

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
