I didn't think I could get pregnant at 46

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, January 19, 2008 | 0 comments

I just turned 46 years old in December, and I didn't even think I could get pregnant anymore. I have a daughter, 26 years old, and a son who just turned 21 on January 30, 2006 .

Well, I just had a healthy, beautiful baby girl on January 20, 2006 . She weighed 7lbs 6oz, and there were no complications at birth or afterwards.

Just wanted to let all those moms-to-be out there, that even at our age it can be accomplished, and you can enjoy your pregnancy and not have major complications. I honestly couldn't be happier with how everything turned out, although I was in shock at the beginning, and very worried for the baby .

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
