Who says 44 is too old to have your 1st?

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, January 19, 2008 | 0 comments

Anna Elizabeth was born on December 5 via scheduled C-section. (EDD [estimated date of delivery] was November 29) She was 10 lbs 1 oz, and 21 inches long.

I am very grateful to my doctor for recommending the C-section, as there would have been issues, if we had induced for a vaginal delivery (on the day of the section, she still had not dropped into my pelvis).

All went well, and we now have a beautiful baby girl. Looking back, I can't believe that I ever feared the surgery or the recovery. I have been home a week, and only have the slightest bit of pain near the incision.

Who says 44 is too old to have your first baby ???

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
