A 44y gave birth to 18th child

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, February 21, 2008 | 0 comments

A 44-year-old woman from Telsiai, western Lithuania, gave birth to her 18th child, a miracle doctors said they do not see often.

According to Lithuanian daily newspaper Lietuvos Zinios, Danute Bagociene was highly concerned over her 18th pregnancy, and feared it would be difficult for her and the baby.

Nevertheless, the baby boy weighted 3.7 kilograms at birth and was heavier than Bagociene's other newborns. Bagociene has given birth to seven sons and 11 daughters. Her oldest son Irinijus is now 28.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
