On Thursday I also saw another Chinese herbalist/acupuncturist , and he specializes in fertility.

I said that I am scared of more miscarriages. He said, when you have one, you need to wait 3 months. I said, I can't wait, I've just gone closer to 42.

He laughed and said I was young. He had helped a 48 year old conceive, and give birth using her own eggs a few months ago.

He has another patient who is 45, and had 9 or more miscarriages and is now 38 weeks pregnant with her first baby.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
