An older friend just had a baby at 48

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, March 25, 2008 | 0 comments

I have an older friend who just had a baby. Mom is 48 years old, and just had heart bypass surgery last year to boot!

She had no trouble conceiving, and had only smaller adaptations she needed to make during her pregnancy. She did go through some exams to provide the doctors with details of the baby so they could treat her accordingly throughout the pregnancy, and she did have to have a C-section because of the heart surgery last year.

However, she and her husband now have an absolutely beautiful and perfect little baby boy!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
