I had my 1st baby at 44

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Sunday, May 11, 2008 | 1 comments

I am 44 years old, and had my first baby on April 12, 2006. I used no fertility drugs. I had gone to a fertility specialist, but was told my eggs were not viable. My husband was not comfortable with the options he gave us.

Then to our surprise, five months later we were pregnant. She is healthy, happy and beautiful. You have to do what is comfortable for you and your spouse, please do not give up hope.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

    Hi,
I am pushing 41 with a 9 month old son. He's number six so far. We are hoping for more children. I was so happy to find your blog with the positive stories of pregnancy after 40. Thank you for taking time to put this blog together. I feel like there's "still hope".

    Blessings!
    Lisa
