I had my first child the month before I turned 41. Got pregnant first month trying. (Also got pregnant first month trying 3 months prior, but it ended in miscarriage). We decided to give him a sibling.

I will be 44 next month. I tried for 6 months, and finally got pregnant again. I am almost 12 weeks. It's amazing at my age, but it can be done!

For those of you who are 45 or 46. I had my first ultrasound yesterday and we are definitely a little pregnant. I will be 46 in two months. My husband is 46.

He had testicular cancer and had righty removed. Lefty had a varicocele that was repaired. We tried 5 IUI's [Intrauterine Insemination] that didn't work. The chances of us conceiving naturally are infinitely small. But we did.

We only have a 50/50 chance to make it to term, but those are great odds compared to the chance that we would even get pregnant. Good luck to all.

I am 45 and I was 12 weeks pregnant when I had a miscarriage just 2 days ago. I have a 25 year old daughter from a previous marriage.

My husband and I would very much like to have a child together. We're hoping to try again in a couple of months even though the odds are against my advancing age. At least we now know that I can get pregnant at this age. It's just a matter of whether the pregnancy will be full term, and that the baby will be healthy.

He sent me to a high risk OB [obstetrician], and when I met with him he told me that while I WAS older, I was by no means too old.

He told me about the 47 year old who had just given birth to a healthy girl that same week. She got pregnant naturally after trying for 2 years.

He also told me that his wife had their first child at 37, and they were again trying to conceive and she is in her 40's.

I had my last baby three months ago, at 45 years old. He's happy, healthy and has brought so much happiness to our family, I can't begin to tell you. My other two children are 27 and 22 years old, and our new baby is the love of their lives.

An added bonus is that the practice they're getting taking care of him will insure that they are good, experienced parents when their time comes. This baby was unplanned, but I like to call him "the icing on the cake".

My husband's grandparents met in the in 1920's. His grandfather had travelled all over the world, and had been too busy to marry. His grandmother was a spinster school teacher. They were both in their 40's, and got married.

Guess what - they had 4 children. All were healthy. All four went to Ivy League schools (or the female equivalent at the time).

One of my father-in-law's sisters was the only female in her law school class in the 1940s. Father-in-law's brother was a war hero in WWII, and countless lives were saved because of him. Father-in-law's other sister taught inner-city children.

I'm forever grateful that my husband's grandparents didn't think they were too old to have children.

I had an unplanned pregnancy at age 45. I already had two other children same husband, who were 19 and 15 when I got pregnant.

I had bleeding in the first trimester, diet controlled gestational diabetes, and had no hormone shots. I delivered at 37 and 3/7 week from a car accident. He is now four, and I am 49.

I personally know of at least 3 people who have gotten pregnant in their mid to late 40's.

My husband has a friend whose wife is now expecting her first baby in September. After one miscarriage, she got pregnant again for the 2nd time in decades and she's your age (44 years old). Her husband is 50 years old.

I've heard many other stories that prove that you're as pregnant, as you believe you will be. As long as you believe it will happen for you, consider it done. It's only a matter of time.

My grandmother had her last child at 45 - in the 1940's. My uncle, who was that last child, complained for years that he had an "old" mother.

But he was also the pampered family baby: the only one out of 6 who went to private school, and had his college paid for. AND my grandmother lived to see him marry, and have children of his own.

There are ups and downs with any parents. Age is just one factor out of many.
