I'll be 44 when the baby comes

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Monday, February 16, 2009 | 0 comments

I'm having my second at 43 (well pregnant at 43, I'll be 44 when the baby comes). My daughter is 11 though, so in a sense she will always be an only child. But I do really like the idea of her not being alone in the world. She wants a baby sister.

But, ultimately my decision to have another baby stemmed from always wanting another child. My daughter's father, my first husband, died about 2 years ago, so I figured I was done having babies.

Then I met my second husband last year, and he had never been married, and has no children. He wanted a child, and that was cool because I always had wanted another child. So here we are!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
