5th attempt at IVF at 44 - pregnant

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, July 21, 2010 | 0 comments

I am in my 5th attempt at IVF at age 44 with my own eggs. I got pregnant first time and miscarried after 3 months. This attempt I transferred 3 embryos (2 8-cell and 1 7-cell) and am pregnant. Doctor said numbers are very good.

I am remaining optimistic -- I go back on Friday for another blood test. You just never know. Trying with your own can and will work for some people.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
