Grandma conceive at 54

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, April 14, 2011 | 0 comments

I had a grandma conceive at 54. I guess I come from a long line of vibrant older women.

My mom got her Bachelor of Science degree at 75. My 56 year old sister surfs, scuba dives and is opening a Bed & Breakfast in the Caribbean, my 91 year old grandmother still dances "the dirty boogie" and has a sparkle in her eye.

My 89 year old grandmother has a boyfriend 20 years her junior and travels all over with him and alone.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
