She had her last child at 45

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Thursday, April 21, 2011 | 0 comments

I wanted to share a happy story with those TTCing. I was shopping at Von's, I live in Los Angeles. I happened to talk with the lady behind me. We were talking about this and that.

Age came up and I said that we were pretty close in age. She saw I had some baby toys, I have a 10 month old. She went on to tell me she had her last child at 45, she is 47 now.

Prior to her last child at 45, she had had two miscarriages. And she got pregnant without any drugs or treatment. So for those ladies trying, anything is possible until the fat lady sings.

Since I'm trying for another one at 43, she made me feel hopeful with such a happy story. Plus she was such an open and kind woman. Keep the faith, because anything is possible.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
