I am 44 and expect my first baby (a girl) in mid September. This was a complete surprise. I had years ago written off any chance of motherhood. We weren't trying too hard to avoid pregnancy, but we sure weren't trying for it.
The pregnancy has been medically uneventful. I've had other (non-baby related) medical problems and was hospitalized for a couple of nights last month. I've enjoyed much of the experience so far, but have certainly done my share of whining.
After my health problems last month, I am happy to be "just pregnant" in August.
