had my 3rd child 2 days after I turned 45

I had my 3rd child two days after I turned 45.

Although I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I wasn't trying NOT to either, since my new husband really wanted a baby.

Anyway... I'm wondering who else in the group conceived and gave birth naturally/spontaneously after the age of 44?

I'm in the process of writing a book proposal on the topic and would be delighted to hear more from others who have had a similar experience.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

  1. Had my first son at 40 with IUI. Had my second son at 46 with perseverance and nothing else. In between the two were many miscarriages as well as two m/c prior to the first. Not an easy road but all worth it. Sometimes it just takes a lot of time.
