Just found out I am pregnant at 45

I am 45 years old, and just found out I am pregnant (approximately 6 weeks along).

I have an only, a vivacious, spunky 6-year-old girl.

I struggled for the past six years to have another baby, because my first delivery was horrendous.

Long story short, I developed eclampsia after the delivery (emergency c-section) and almost stroked three days later.

My doctor was horrible, my husband can't even mention her name without using the word malpractice, but we won't go there.

Anyway, you can only imagine the mental trauma I experienced.

I went to seek professional help, while this did cure me for a while, I still longed for my child to have a sibling.

My daughter is such a nurturing little girl, and what an amazing big sister she would be.

I decided to let fate take over.

We enjoyed the usual once a week sex, (sorry guys, this was all I could muster), but viola... it happened!

I am so scared, my husband is not so happy, and I do feel a bit like a freak show, but it is not about me.

After what I went through, and with the best high-risk doctors I can find, I can do this and we are going forward.

I wish you all the best through your journey.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I have just found out that I am pregnant - approximately 7 weeks. I am 45 years old and as far as I know have never been pregnant in my life before now. I got married in 2012 to a wonderful husband, but the doctors told me that they would not give me IVF using my own eggs as the chances of my ever getting pregnant with my own eggs were very small. My husband and I just kept on praying.. and asked Christian friends and family to pray. And we are continuing to pray to G-d the Creator and Sustainer of Life. Just so full of gratitude to him for every moment that we have with the life he has given us so far.. and praying that the baby will continue to grow and thrive.

Reading this gives me MUCH hope. I had (what I thought was) my period in June then missed July. I've tested twice (afternoon and then morning urine) both negative. I "feel" so off though. I have some of the symptoms but I don't want to read into anything. I sooo want to be pregnant but I'm trying not to obsess over it. My husband and I adopted both our kids (Donovan, 7 and Briana, 2) but I've always wanted a third. I'm still praying until otherwise noted!
