I turned 47 & we managed to have a little one

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Tuesday, December 12, 2006 | 0 comments

I'm delighted to be able to write an intro for our new daughter now. Alice was born 3-14-03, at 40 weeks gestation, via scheduled c-section, and weighed 8 lbs.

She was a natural conception - I think we finally connected with the "last good egg" in my aging body. I turned 47 last October and still can hardly believe we managed to have a little one now.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
