I am 20 weeks along and I'll be 49 when my baby is due. This is a spontaneous pregnancy, much to my and my OB/gyn's, surprise! I had my first daughter at 41 and lost my second when I was 42 at 24 weeks. Had two miscarriages between 8 and 10 weeks after that.
At 16 weeks we had an ultrasound done with 3-D imaging, it was amazing! My husband and I couldn't stop the tears we could see that it is a boy. We could see he has all three bones in his little fingers (many down's babies have only two), which was a bit of a relief as we have decided not to take the risk of amnio.
I suppose I won't stop worrying until the baby is born. My girls are thrilled, and can't wait for their new brother (we are also in the process of adopting our foster daughter). Thanks for listening.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
