Some women will conceive spontaneously late 40's, early 50's

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Sunday, March 25, 2007 | 0 comments

It is well known that some women will conceive spontaneously in their late 40's or early 50's. There are enough unwanted "oops" babies out there going to menopausal women to make this a known fact.

I know of a woman who had completed her family and was on birth control pills until age 46 when her stupid OB told her that it was safe to come off them now -- two months later she was pregnant and is due to deliver. Definitely not DE [donor egg]!

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
