Possible to be pregnant at almost 47? Yes!

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Friday, May 11, 2007 | 0 comments

In general, is it possible to be pregnant at almost 47? Yes! One of my favourite sayings is "it ain't over 'til it's over" and until you have not had a period for an entire year, you have not reached menopause and it is very possible to get pregnant.

We know that a woman's cycles begin to slow down and change once she reaches 40, but as long as she is still cycling, she is still generally fertile and capable of achieving pregnancy.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
