Soon to be 44, 32w pregnant with my 8th

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Saturday, January 19, 2008 | 0 comments

I am 43, soon to be 44, and 32 weeks pregnant with my eighth child. The age thing doesn't bother me at all.

Regarding the health of children born of older women: I have read that older women just started, over the past 8 to 10 years or so having babies at older ages, so they don't really have enough data to support greater birth defects in children birthed by older women.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
