I am 44, with an Oct. due date for baby

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, February 13, 2008 | 0 comments

I am 44 years old with nearly 19 year old college daughter, 17 year old (next month) son, 16 year old step daughter, 14 year old step son, and an Oct. 4th due date for baby.

I work full time, and will have to continue to do so after the baby is born. I don't personally know anyone with a baby right now. I am hunting for local mid-life parenting groups in order to meet others in our shoes. I am almost at 12 weeks, and about to go to a big appointment in Boston to analyze for risk factors.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
