50y old mothers not as rare

I don't know the statistics, but I suspect there must be a significant trend towards older parents. I bet that 50 year old mothers of small children is not as rare as it once was.

Most of my peers are just starting to have kids now in their mid-30s, whereas when my parents married in 1970 at ages 27 and 28, they figured they'd better have kids quick since they were on the old side.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.
